Michelle McDonald – Selfless Leader Recognized

Two years ago, MSHS student Michelle McDonald had a request: she wanted to start a club that would address homelessness in the Spokane area.

Not a small task to undertake for a high school sophomore, but Michelle was determined, and her desire to help others was both powerful and sincere. From this moment, Project HOPE was born at MSHS, and Michelle’s leadership has led to many incredible moments.

Now a senior, and after many memorable events that have focused on giving to and helping others, Michelle was recently recognized by the Chase Youth Commission at its annual awards ceremony.

Michelle received the Judges Choice Award this past week. After all of the individual awards were given, the judges then chose from among all the nominees and selected a few outstanding individuals for a special honor, and Michelle was chosen! What a great moment for Michelle and her family!

We are PROUD of Michelle McDonald and the legacy she lives each day at Mt. Spokane!

Go Michelle! Go ‘Cats!

  1. GET EXCITED! Let the scholarships roll in, she’s Western Washington bound! She wouldn’t be the individual she is without the amazing teachers, counselors, principals and staff that Mead School District has provided for her. But let’s not forget that without God, nothing is possible! A big thanks to all for helping us raise her!
